Ever thought about becoming a surf life saver? Join Qtopia Sydney & Lifesavers with Pride for a no-stress intro into surf lifesaving. Our panel of LGBTQIA+ lifesavers will speak about their experiences on and off the beach (with a twist!). After the panel join us for social drinks where you can mingle with LGBTQIA+ lifesavers, ask any question you like and get more info on the opportunities and rewards of becoming a surf lifesaver.
Surf lifesaving is a fantastic movement, providing the opportunity to learn safety and confidence at the beach, increase your fitness and strength, participate in surf sports and recreation, and join a community of over 198,000 members nationwide in the largest volunteer movement of its kind in the world.
Surf lifesavers have been on Australia’s beaches for over 100 years, performing 10,000+ rescues annually.
Surf Life Saving is a progressive and inclusive movement committed to welcoming members from all walks of life. Lifesavers with Pride is the peak body representing LGBTQIA+ surf lifesavers. We lead community events to promote inclusive surf life saving culture, empower LGBTQIA+ and allies to join their local surf club, and support other movements with LGBTQIA+ inclusion. Lifesavers with Pride members proudly marched at Sydney Mardi Gras for 20 years in 2026.
