Armed with nothing more than an apple and a thirst for (r)evolution, Eve is ready to tell you what REALLY went down in that garden.

Award-winning playwright and performer Billie Jane brings her signature blend of humor, vulnerability, and unapologetic perspective to a solo show that reimagines one of the most well-known stories ever told—and gently (aggressively) suggests we may have gotten a few things wrong.

Through intimate, fourth-wall-breaking storytelling, Then, Eve revisits a narrative that has shaped centuries of belief, identity, and expectation—and hands the mic to the one person who was never allowed to speak for herself. What unfolds is at once playful, biting, and deeply personal, blurring the line between myth and memory, performance and confession.

At its heart, Then, Eve is about authorship: who gets to define us, what it means to unlearn the stories we’ve inherited, and the courage it takes to write something new in their place. Billie Jane’s work centers queer and trans perspectives often absent from the theatrical canon, offering not just visibility, but recognition—and the possibility of seeing yourself reflected in a story that was never supposed to belong to you.

The play has been praised as “wrenchingly cathartic” (Orlando Sentinel) and “among the most entertaining and affecting original scripts Orlando Fringe has seen” (Orlando Weekly).

This is a show about creation. About defiance. About the moment you realize the story you’ve been handed isn’t the one you have to keep.

And what happens when you finally decide to tell your own.
